KH. Zainuddin berasal dari Padangan Bojonegoro - jatim dimasa mudanya ia belajar di Pondok Langitan Babat, Sudah menjadi tradisi yang baik di kalangan para ulama untuk menjodohkan putrinya dengan santri-santri berbobot. Begitu pula dengan Kyai Zainuddin, karena prestasinya yang menonjol beliau Ialu dijadikan menantu oleh gurunya, kemudian diutus untuk meneruskan kepemimpinan Pondok Mojosari.Beliau tampil pada urutan kelima sebagai pengasuh terhitung dari KH Ali Imron sang pendiri pondok. Berkat kepribadian dan kepemimpinan Kyai Zainuddin yang agung nama pondok Mojosari melejit ke segenap penjuru.
Beliau dikenal oleh masyarakat sebagai waliyulloh, namun aktivitas sehari-harinya tak beda dengan petani-petani desa yang bersahaja, karomahnya tak pernah dibuat pameran. Bahkan beliau lebih nampak sebagai seorang ulama syari’ah yang kokoh, tugas-tugasnya dijalankan dengan disiplin dan istiqomah. Setelah selesai mengajar di malam hari, sekitar pukul 22.00 beliau istirahat dan bangun jam 02.00 akhir malam, beliau menjalankan tahajjud, tilawatil Qur’an dan lain-lain, mendekatkan diri kepada Allah Swt sampai menjelang shubuh. .....
