“El Voto Caribe promovido por el gobernador del Atlántico, Eduardo Verano de la Rosa, fue una consulta popular a favor de la constitución de la Región Caribe como una entidad territorial de derecho público, con autonomía, para que promueva un desarrollo económico y social en nuestro territorio, dentro del Estado y la Constitución colombiana”.Luego de la visible campaña ¡Región Caribe Ya!, el 14 de marzo de 2010 los costeños dijeron Sí a la regionalización a través del voto popular pronunciándose en las urnas, con 2 millones 502 mil 726 votos.
En esencia, el propósito fue y es lograr una Región competitiva, con estructura propia y autonomía para decidir sobre su desarrollo armónico, tal como lo visionó la Constitución del 91, en sus artículos 306 y 307.
El Voto Caribe: ¡Por el poder de nuestra región!, cumple 6 años, por lo que este viernes 18 de marzo de 2016 los gobernadores de la Región Caribe se unen en la Gobernación del Bolívar, a conmemorar esta fecha histórica y a seguir trabajando por la autonomía e integración regional.
